Founded in 1981, Citiguard is a wholly owned, full service Canadian company head quartered in Toronto Ontario , licensed both for guard services and private investigations through the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Public Safety and Security.

Security guards applying at Citiguard will be interviewed by the Citiguard operations manager to see if they would qualify under Citiguard's company policy guidelines and via the guidelines set out by the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Public Safety and Security.

A criminal background will not clear our corporate guidelines for employing security personnel nor would it clear the ministry approval sytem guidelines.

A security guard is required to submit security guard applications to the ministry, accompanied by the following documents requested for a clearance check through their system.

They include;

  Primary Identification;

1. Canadian Birth Certificate and / or;
2. Canadian Citizen Card or;
3. Landed Immigration Card or;
4. Valid Passport.

  Secondary Identification;

1. Valid Driver's license or;
2. Valid Health Card with photo.

A security guard will need to take a passport size photo under ministry requirements.

Security guards may not wear glasses, a hat or cap of any kind and may not produce a smile otherwise the application will not be accepted by the ministry.

Generally a security guard application will be approved or declined within 5 to 7 business days by the Ministry.

Once a guard has been cleared via the Ontario Provincial Police background check system and approved, the guard will be issued a license with a photo I.D card by the ministry, which allows the guard to work as a security guard for any companies.
